Group Activities

Fairwindz has designed activity programs so that the children are more prone to develop team skills and offer the ability to focus on the connection between them and the parent.

Each activity places the child in a position to learn self reliance and the ability to learn a new skill which when fostered by the attending parent builds an ongoing sense of accomplishment and personal pride.

We as weekend parents are charged with all the duties and responsibilities of the full time parent but our time is limited. We can become overwhelmed by the daunting task of imparting the basic values that we as a society value in 48 hours or less. Activities are designed to be enjoyable and educational. When camping, for example, we teach communication skills and team work through everything from the gathering of firewood to ropes activities and hiking.

Another clear advantage to the group activities is that the children are able to develop bonds with others in a like situation( divorced and/or conflicted families) these bonds can help both children and parents. The children not only look forward to seeing the weekend parent but the friends that represent stability with that parent during weekend visits.

In ongoing court battles we find that the non custodial parent is often accused of the lack of stable relationships offered to the child and the ever present "Disney parent" accusation We find that through consistent group activity participation we can show the court an honest and consistent effort to provide the children with a group which represents not only support but endless smiles. In this case the "Disney" accusation does nothing but benefit the child and parent.

Activities are varied from mild to wild and safety is always first. As weekend parents we all live in a fishbowl and strive to give our kids the most incredible weekends possible while living under the constant scrutiny of those who wish to detract from our efforts.

We live to provide memories that are above any objection of anyone. We never do anything without the guidance of someone who is qualified to teach the subject by any and all social standards. Our varied qualifications amongst the regular participants would probably surprise even the most skeptical.

Finally but most importantly we help parents to see that activities such as bubble blowing are as important to the children and sometimes more desirable than some elaborate plan for an activity that might be far more expensive. Bubbles are about a buck for an afternoon of memories that my daughter will happily recount to you as some of her best. As a group we work together to balance the simple and the elaborate with the meaningful and lasting.
